Summary

Fernando Silva has extensive international experience in consumer finance start-ups, retail banking, and product and risk management in mature and emerging markets. He worked in the development of consumer finance businesses from green field in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Russia and Ukraine. He is currently the managing director for Atlantic Management where he takes his expertise to advise consumer finance established businesses and start-ups. He has been non-executive board member for Sovcombank and Renaissance Credit in Russia. He has advised investors in their portfolio of retail banks in Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, and Nigeria. Previously, Fernando held the position of SVP & Chief Risk Officer for Renaissance Credit in Russia where he was one of the founders and key member of executive team that created one of the largest consumer finance bank in Russia not only by positioning risk management as core competence and driving force to gain market share but also by incubating product line areas for the bank. The risk strategy in Renaissance Credit allowed the bank to significantly grow the consumer lending assets and market share whilst keeping a high standard of portfolio quality which was recognized by that time by the rating agencies in their review as well as by analysts in the market reports.
Before joining Renaissance Credit, Fernando Silva held senior positions in Risk Management at GE Capital (currently GE Money) in several emerging markets and Europe including the position of Regional Chief Risk Officer for Latin America. In his time with GE Capital, Fernando played also a key role in the development of GE consumer finance banks from start-up operations in Brazil, Argentina and Mexico. Prior to this work with GE, he worked for Citibank card business in Brazil as Quality and Process Development Director where he was responsible for the process re-engineering for the card acquiring, processor and issuer businesses of Citibank with base over 23 million cards. He was also member of FICO Client Advisory Board.
